Our History

Originally conceived as a research project at Canada’s University of British Columbia (UBC), MineSense incorporated in 2008 and has since scaled operations around the world. We have received funding from governments and investors supporting our innovations and commitment to reducing environmental impacts in mining, and have received awards and recognition across tech, mining, and sustainability programs.

Today, we have staff and mining projects around the world, with our global headquarters are in Vancouver, Canada, our Regional South American headquarters in Santiago, Chile. Our diverse team is made up of passionate, creative, driven individuals who have come together to do what many said could not be done: improving mining for people and planet.

Our Technology

Our signature solution, ShovelSense, installs sensors directly onto mining equipment to scan and estimate the grade of the material in every shovel and bucket. Our BeltSense technology is used on conveyance at different points of the mine’s downstream operations. Used sequentially, BeltSense and ShovelSense maximizes ore and waste control and downstream processing value.

We are the only ore sorting technology AT THE FACE, generating knowledge at the beginning where it has the greatest impact on improving ore recovery from waste and reduction of dilution of ore. MineSense provides increased real-time visibility of your orebody, driving improvements in your mine’s process efficiency, productivity, profits, and sustainability.
