We are looking to add an experienced Senior Electrical/Electronic Engineer to our Product Development team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Team Lead, Electrical Engineering, this individual is responsible for designing and troubleshooting control panels & wiring harnesses for some of the most innovative technology in the Mining Industry. An ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter that enjoys developing innovative solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define the requirement, configuration, point to point connections and list of components of each harness.
  • Select connectors as per electrical, mechanical and manufacturing requirements.
  • Build or procure preliminary prototypes of systems panels and assemblies. Ability to terminate different connector types and cable assemblies.
  • Support and troubleshoot manufacturing/assembly issues throughout product life cycle.
  • Design and specify electrical and controls system component and circuits.
  • Bench calibration and verification of sensors, actuators, and electronic components.
  • Collaborate with vendors to source components and troubleshoot failures.
  • Develop and perform validation tests at system and sub-system levels.
  • Generate design documentation, schematics, harnesses, and bill of materials using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and CAD tools.
  • Develop production and rework procedures, instructions, and checklists.
  • Write / document the control system narrative.
  • Acts as a mentor to co-op and junior engineers at the company.
  • Additional duties as occasionally required by your manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Controls system engineering, registered P.Eng / EIT or eligible for registration with Engineers & Geoscientists BC -EGBC
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as an Electrical or Control engineer
  • Hands on experience designing and troubleshooting control panels
  • Experience with Prototyping, 3D harness design, installation drawings and 3D modelling of multi-breakout harnesses.
  • Proficiency with at least one harness design platform.
  • Must be able to travel up 5% to the customer’s work site and follow their site operation and safety procedures for field work to support the start-up and commissioning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of automotive/mobile equipment power and controls systems is an asset.
  • EPLAN and experience building products for harsh environments are an asset.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience working in Microsoft 365.
  • Health & Safety conscious individual.
  • Must be able to travel up 5% to the customer’s work site and follow their site operation and safety procedures for field work to support the start-up and commissioning.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
