We are looking to add an Engineering Technologist, Shift Lead to our Operations Team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Manager, Vancouver Operations, this individual is responsible for supervising the daily activities of our Technologists to ensure smooth production runs. An ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter that enjoys learning innovative hands-on solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily activities of Engineering Technicians, ensuring that all production processes are followed and that the production team meets all production goals and objectives.
  • Train new Technicians and ensure that they have the necessary skills to operate machinery and perform production tasks in a safe and effective manner.
  • Optimize production to ensure that all technicians and equipment are working efficiently, and production output meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Monitor the flow of production, tracking reasons for delays or low production output, and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Document any production delays or low output and report to the Operations Manager on the reasons for these issues.
  • Collaborate with other production teams and departments to identify and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety standards and procedures.
  • Assemble products & prototypes using hand tools.
  • Carry out end of line testing on products as well as development testing on prototypes.
  • Modify and/or fabricate mechanical parts and electrical harnesses.
  • Establish work control systems to ensure standards of performance, quality, cost and safety are met.
  • Specify and procure tools and instrumentation as required.
  • Contribute to product design and manufacturability improvements.
  • Additional duties as occasionally required by your manager.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate with technicians, management, and other departments.
  • Technologist diploma in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or relevant discipline and/or a minimum of 3 years of related experience in a product development, manufacturing, or servicing environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical assembly capability (i.e. basic hand tools and multimeters).
  • Hands on fabrication and maintenance capability.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical part and assembly drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and systems.
  • Proficient in using a PC for running tests, reporting, and recording results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, meet demanding deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions quickly.
  • Able to operate a sit-down counterbalanced forklift (forklift training will be provided).
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 30-40 lbs from time to time.
  • Health & Safety conscious individual.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
